Another solid Kia purchase

This was my third Kia, picked up a new Sorento last month. I've always been happy with the reliability and value. The process was smoother this time around compared to when I got my K5 a few years back. They seem to have streamlined things a bit, which was nice. Still got that great warranty, a big reason I keep coming back.

Good car, average process

I bought a Kia Sportage a few months ago. The car itself is great, drives well, and I like the features for the price point. The warranty is a big plus too. The dealership experience was okay, a bit slow with the paperwork, but I got the car I wanted. Delivery was on time.

EV6 purchase experience

I recently acquired a Kia EV6 and wanted to share my experience. The initial ordering process online to build and price the car was straightforward enough. I found a dealer nearby through the site, which was convenient. Scheduling a test drive was easy, they had the car ready when I arrived. The salesperson was knowledgeable about the EV features and charging specifics. When it came to financing, I used one of their lease specials, and the terms seemed competitive. The actual paperwork at the dealership took about an hour, which felt a little long, but they were thorough. Delivery was smooth, the car was prepped perfectly. I also looked into the Kia Connect subscription; it seems useful but I haven't activated it yet. Overall, a good experience, though the wait time from order to delivery was longer than I hoped, about 6 weeks.

What's the deal with Kia and Hyundai? Are they like, the same company?

B Brittany Lewis 1 month ago
They're related. Like, Kia is part of the Hyundai Motor Group. So they share platforms and tech sometimes, but they're still distinct brands.

Yeah, think of them like Volkswagen and Audi. Different cars, different styling, but under the same big umbrella.

Thinking of getting a new Telluride. Anyone know how long I'd have to wait for one these days?

D Donna G. 1 week ago
Yeah, the Telluride is super popular. I heard some people were waiting months, but it might have gotten better. My cousin got his Sportage in like 6 weeks a few months ago.

It really depends on the dealer and exact trim. I think if you're flexible with colors or features, you might get lucky faster. Best bet is to call a few local dealers and see what they say about their current allocations.

I'm looking at the EV6, wondering about that 10-year warranty everyone talks about. Is it for everything?

L Linda Gomez 2 weeks ago
The 10-year / 100,000-mile warranty is mostly for the powertrain, like the engine/transmission. For EV's, it covers the battery and electric motor stuff too. The basic bumper-to-bumper is usually shorter, like 5 years/60k miles.

Nah, not for EVERYTHING. It's awesome for the main bits, but wear-and-tear stuff like brakes or wipers aren't covered that long. Definitely read the fine print, but it's one of the best warranties out there for the important parts.

how reliable are new Kias compared to say, a Toyota or Honda these days?

S Sarah Evans 1 month ago
From what I've seen and read, they've really stepped up their game. They're pretty competitive now, especially with that long warranty. My Sportage has been solid for 3 years.

Honestly, I think they're right up there. Consumer Reports and JD Power give them pretty good scores now. Plus, the 10-year warranty gives a lot of peace of mind. Maybe not 'bulletproof' like some older Toyotas, but very good.

Does Kia ever do those big sales events where you can get a lot off, like around holidays?

A Amanda R. 3 weeks ago
Oh yeah, totally. They have them all the time. Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, end of year. That's usually when they push the best lease deals or financing rates.

Yep, keep an eye out for their 'Summer Sticker Sales Event' or 'Year End Sales Event.' That's when I bought my Seltos, got a decent chunk off then.
